So many people are instantly turned off by the “G” word. But unlike Stephen Colbert’s representation (ha ha), he’s not necessarily an old white man with grey beard!

Flip that tired old New Year’s resolution thing

New Year’s Day: it’s that magical time when people traditionally make grandiose promises, set ambitious new goals that soon fall by the wayside.

Again.

How many failed diets, how many unused gym memberships and dusty pieces of “miracle” exercise equipment result from this tradition?

Enough, I say. Enough!

Unless it’s sustainable, and sustainable in reality – not just in your impulsive imagination – such “resolutions” are huge wastes of time and energy. They’re also soul-killers. They set you up for failure. They teach you that goals and failure are one and the same. Bad, bad, bad!

So here’s your choice. You can slog along with all the other lemmings and endure yet another round of such futile, annual self-flagellation, OR you can try something different. A new approach is just the thing when an old one fails you. Learn and adapt! That’s how life gets better and better is, well…

Today’s Top Tweet – The Herd Mentality

Remember Y2K? How about those Mayan prophecies about the end of the world? Some people made a lot of money out of all that hype. Today I’m wondering if some – certainly not all – of the media pundits realize just how good Trump is for their own particular business.

Human beings tend to see themselves as smarter than animals. At least, a lot of us do. But when huge groups of people react emotionally instead of rationally, getting all whipped up into a frenzy, I really have to wonder sometimes.

God gave us reason for a reason. Let’s use it.

I actually don’t mind the commercialization of Christmas… as long as we remember what it’s all about. Mind you, I think I’d rather just give everyone a candle instead of the usual assortment of stuff. And I’m not wild about all the concrete in my city. Sometimes my dystopian sci-fi side imagines the Earth grumbling and breaking it all up. I guess that’s what we call an Earthquake.

Anyhow, this was more an exercise in Adobe Photoshop Elements than any great political or religious statement. Saw this storefront display the other evening and had to take a pic.
